Library

What do I need to provide to get a library card

For City residents an ID and current bill with name and address will be needed to get your free library card.

For non City residents the cost for your library card is 92.00 for  the household. This price is good thru June 2021.

How long does it take to get a library card?

Our librarian will be able to supply you with a new library card the same day you apply with the proper qualifications.

Are electronic books available?

Yes we do have electronic books, audio and eMagazines.

Does the Library have Story Time

We do offer "story time" for younger children on Thursdays!  Give us a call at 632-2807 for the current schedule.

City Hall

What hours is City Hall open?

City Hall is open from 8am - 4:30pm daily.

Sanitation & Recycling

When are the garbage collection days for my street?

Please contact your local provider for collection days of trash and recycle. Remember, observed holidays will alter the normal routine.

Water Utilities

How could I have used this much water?

 You could possibly have a leaky toilet or faucet that's difficult to detect. A running toilet which may be due to a sticking float or a bad flapper can waste as much as 4320 gallons per day. In 7 days that can add up to 30,240 gallons which can cost you roughly $361.00 for in town residents.

What do I do if I am experiencing low pressure?

Check your meter and the surrounding area for possible leaks. Next, call our office and report low pressure for your area.

Why is my water discolored?

A repair could have been completed recently allowing air to enter the line, causing the milky look. Hydrant Flushing can also cause the water to be discolored. Subscribe today to get alerts when repairs or hydrant flushing is taking place.

Water Collector

My bill is past due can I get an extension?

Please contact the Water Collector and a one-time extension will be extended to you for extenuating circumstances. Late fees will still apply.

Why do I have a previous balance when I know I sent in my payment?

We may have received your payment after the new bills were printed and mailed or we may not have received it at all. Please contact the Water Collector to help solve your problem.

Street Department

Yard waste

The Petersburg Street Department picks up residential yard waste within City limits on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month. Tree limbs and brush cuttings may be placed at curbside and shall not exceed 40 lbs or 8 feet in length. All yard waste must be placed in PAPER bags only. Bags shall not exceed 40 lbs. No loose material, brick, block, lumber, construction material, trash, tires, appliances, ashes, plastic bags of any kind or any material other than yard waste will be picked up. The City crews will not pick up tree cuttings/ limbs placed by COMMERCIAL tree cutting companies.
